Vision/Mission/Core Values
I. The Vision and Mission Statement of the Rock of Ages Christian Fellowship
"To build a strong stable local church where the good news of Jesus Christ is proclaimed to all, where people are empowered to grow and mature while continually pursuing the presence of God and character of Jesus Christ and where everyday life is viewed as our primary arena of witness to the world around us."
II. Our Vision - Our vision is three-fold in its purpose. The three goals will always be in view.
- Pursuing God's Presence.
- Empowering God's People.
- Touching God's World
III. Mission - Our mission takes the vision and breaks it down into six commitments.
- Being Active in the Holy Spirit (relates to #1 above)
- Holding Forth God's Word (relates to #1 above)
- Maturing Our Own People (relates to #2 above)
- Supporting the Body of Christ-at-large (relates to #2 above)
- Engaging the Community (relates to #3 above)
- Reaching the Nations (relates to #3 above)
IV. Core Values - Our Core Values describe the specific motivation behind our activity and philosophy as a local church. They are grouped under each vision and mission category for clarity sake.
1) Pursuing God's Presence.
A) Being Active in the Holy Spirit
1) We VALUE the Presence of God. 2) We VALUE strong, passionate, expressive, prophetic praise and worship as well as passionate personal and corporate prayer life in the church. 3) We VALUE the gifts of the Holy Spirit expressed through the members of the church regardless of age. 4) We VALUE the Gifts of the Spirit combined with submission to authority and a servants heart. 5) We VALUE a balanced spiritual walk for all believers where the Fruit of the Spirit PLUS the power of the Spirit are expressed with integrity.
B) Holding Forth God's Word
1) We VALUE the inspired, inerrant written nature and the prophetic, revelatory nature of the scripture. 2) We VALUE consistent private devotional life as well as consistent public preaching and teaching of the scripture. 3) We VALUE public preaching, teaching and application as a major source of power and direction for community and cultural change.
2) Empowering God's People.
A) Maturing Our Own
1) We VALUE identifying, equipping and mobilizing gifted leadership with a strong sense of personal integrity and relational honesty. 2) We VALUE the church as a place of safety, healing and personal nurturing. 3) We VALUE strong, healthy and functional families and seek to practice a multi-generational attitude toward ministry. 4) We VALUE excellence in ministry expression and attitude and the spirit of generosity and sacrificial giving. 5) We VALUE an attitude and atmosphere of Caring. 6) We VALUE every member and every leader being protected by intercessory prayer activity. 7) We VALUE interactive, hands on, small group experiences that CONNECT people to each other and the church. 8) We VALUE personal training and mentoring and equipping people in their calling to minister.
B) Supporting the Body of Christ
1) We VALUE interdependence and involvement with the greater Body of Christ and the regional church. 2) We VALUE prayer and intercession on their behalf. 3) We V ALUE fellowship and strategic partnerships ( 1) Ministers Fellowship International - Spokane (2) Mission Spokane (3) Greater Spokane Association of Evangelicals (4) Others Local churches. 4) We VALUE giving practical help, service and financial help to the Body of Christ when needed.
3) Touching God's World
A) Engaging the Community
1) VALUE our city, our communities and neighborhoods. 2) We VALUE earning the right to personally evangelize by loving and serving. 3) We VALUE expanding the kingdom through ongoing church plant efforts when possible. 4) We VALUE personal and corporate involvement in the business, governmental, social service, recreation, educational environs of our community. 5) We VALUE serving and helping with a readiness to witness and share the gospel. 6) We VALUE giving to the poor and needy or social services and support agencies that touch them. 7) We VALUE being a public voice when needed to speak out on moral issues and community concerns.
B) Reaching the Nations
1) We VALUE effective missions, both regional and international. 2) We VALUE all people, of all cultures and of all nationality. 3) We VALUE strategic prayer all mission efforts. 4) We VALUE missions outreach and support that is national and international. 5) We VALUE sending people and financial support for mission effort.
V. The Glorious Church
God's eternal plan has always been to have a 'Glorious Church' that expresses the fullness of Christ to their neighborhoods, cities, regions and the world, as expressed in Ephesians 5:25-27. This church must find an expression in each generation through healthy local congregations committed to a single vision. It our goal, based on the above vision, mission and values to demonstrate this fullness of Christ in a way that follows the general pattern of the early church as recorded in the Book of Acts of the New Testament and brings glory to Jesus Christ.
